"When someone fills my Google Form, they should get a WhatsApp message." "Send payment reminders from my Google Sheet every morning." Many business owners want this, but they do not write code. Good news: you do not have to. AI chat assistants like ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini can write the code and tell you each click. They only need to know how our WhatsApp API works. The Set up with AI page gives them exactly that.
Why use AI for this?
No coding needed. You write what you want in simple words. English or Hinglish, both are fine.
It asks you questions, like your template name or the columns of your Google Sheet, so the code fits your business.
It explains each step: where to click, what to paste, how to test.
It knows our API. The prompt we copy for you has our guide, your message as a ready link and all the rules.
Free to start. ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini all have free plans. The Set up with AI page is free too.
Before you start
Your API key (Part 1). Best: make a new key just for this setup, with only the Send permission and a daily limit.
An approved template, if the message goes to people who have not written to you in the last 24 hours, like new form leads or payment reminders (Part 3).
Open the API Tester. In the left menu, under Get started, click Set up with AI. (On a phone, tap ☰ Menu first.) Or, in your panel → WhatsApp API → Step 3 — Try it, click Set up with AI in the card Set up with AI (no coding). It opens in a new tab with your key filled in.
Step 1, Your API key, should show your key as one line (ept_••••…). The page uses it only to build your link. Your real key never goes into the prompt.
The Set up with AI page: what you want, the AI buttons and the text we copy for the AI.
In step 2, What do you want to set up?, write your goal In your own words. Or tap an example to fill the box: My Google Form → WhatsApp, Payment reminders from my Google Sheet, My WordPress contact form → WhatsApp, My website (PHP) sends order updates, Zapier / Pabbly / Make or Send several messages at once. You can change the words after tapping.
In Which message?, choose the kind of message you want to send, for example Template, Text or Poster with buttons. It starts with the page you came from.
Under Your filled boxes, keep Use the boxes I filled on that page ticked if you already filled that page (number, text, template). Those values go into the prompt. Your API key never does.
Write your goal, or tap an example. Then choose which message the AI should send.
In the dark panel (step 3, Ask the AI), click the gold Copy prompt button. Or click Open ChatGPT, Open Claude or Open Gemini: these buttons first copy the prompt and then open the AI in a new tab. (The line under the buttons says Ready. Press Copy prompt, or open an AI: we copy the prompt first.)
You will see: Copied. Paste it into the chat (Ctrl+V, or long-press → Paste on a phone).
In the AI chat box, paste the prompt (Ctrl+V on a computer, or long-press → Paste on a phone) and press Enter. (ChatGPT or Claude may open with a short line from us already in the chat. That is fine. Paste the full prompt too.)
Answer the AI's questions and follow its steps one by one. Test with your own number first.
After Copy prompt. Under What we copy for the AI you can read exactly what the AI gets.
What is inside the prompt?
Under What we copy for the AI you can read the whole text before you paste it. It tells the AI:
who you are: a small business in India, not a programmer, so it should explain in simple English (Hinglish is fine), click by click;
to ask you first what it needs to know (template name, form ID, sheet columns, website type) and not to guess;
your goal, in your own words;
your message as a ready link, with YOUR_API_KEY in place of the key;
the rules that matter: the 24-hour window and templates, no double sends, and where to keep the key;
a short guide for your message type and the address of our full guide.
"Ask AI to connect this" — from any page
You do not have to start on the Set up with AI page. On every send and read page, the dark panel has a white button Ask AI to connect this. On a send page it is at the bottom of the dark panel, just under the fold Link & code for your software. On a Check & read page it is just under Copy link. Fill the page as usual (for example a Template with your values), then click it. Set up with AI opens with that page and your filled boxes already chosen. Just write your goal and click Copy prompt.
Ask AI to connect this: it takes the message you just made to the Set up with AI page.
Want to go back and change something on your page? At the top of Set up with AI, click ← Back to Text (or the name of the page you came from). Your boxes are still filled.
← Back to … takes you to the page you came from.
Your key stays safe
Never paste your real API key into an AI chat. The prompt says YOUR_API_KEY, never your real key. Even if you typed your key into a box by mistake, we change it to YOUR_API_KEY before copying.
The AI will tell you where to put your real key, on your side only:
Google Sheets / Google Forms: Apps Script → Project Settings (gear icon) → Script Properties → name EPT_API_KEY, value = your key.
WordPress: in the file wp-config.php on your hosting.
PHP website: a .env file or a server setting.
Zapier, Pabbly or Make: the header field of the HTTP / Webhook step.
Never put the key in your website's JavaScript or HTML (visitors can see that code). If you think a key leaked, revoke it in your panel and create a new one (Part 1).
3 worked examples
Here is what to write, and what the AI will do for you. Change the names to your own.
Example 1: Google Form → WhatsApp (Apps Script)
What to write:
When someone fills my Google Form "Free Site Visit", send them a WhatsApp message with my price list. The form asks Name and Phone. My approved template is welcome_price_list with one value {{1}} for the name.
Which message: Template.
What the AI will do:
Ask you to open the Google Sheet that collects the form answers (in the form: Responses → Link to Sheets).
Tell you to click Extensions → Apps Script and paste a short code. The code reads the Name and Phone of each new answer and sends your template.
Tell you to add your key in Script Properties as EPT_API_KEY.
Tell you to add a trigger: Triggers (clock icon) → Add Trigger → On form submit.
Ask you to fill the form once with your own number to test.
Why a template? A person who just filled your form has never written to you on WhatsApp, so only an approved template can reach them. If your template has a PDF on top, the AI can add your price list as header_document.
Example 2: Payment reminders from a Google Sheet
What to write:
Every morning, send a WhatsApp payment reminder to each customer in my Google Sheet "Customers" who has not paid yet. Column A is Name, B is Phone, C is Amount, D is Status. My approved template is payment_reminder with {{1}} = name and {{2}} = amount.
Which message: Template.
What the AI will do:
Give you an Apps Script code that goes down your sheet row by row, sends the template with the name and amount, and writes SENT (or the error) in column D.
Skip rows that are already SENT, wait a little between messages, and add a reference number so the same reminder is never sent twice in 24 hours.
Tell you to keep the key in Script Properties and add a daily trigger: Triggers → Add Trigger → Time-driven → Day timer.
Ask you to test with one row that has your own number.
Example 3: WordPress Contact Form 7 → WhatsApp
What to write:
When someone fills the contact form on my WordPress website (Contact Form 7), send them a WhatsApp thank-you message. The form fields are your-name and your-phone. My approved template is thank_you_enquiry with {{1}} = name.
Which message: Template.
What the AI will do:
Tell you to add one line with your key to wp-config.php (through your hosting's File Manager), above the line "That's all, stop editing".
Tell you to install the free Code Snippets plugin and paste a small snippet. It runs every time the form is sent and sends your template to the phone number from the form.
Ask you to check that the phone field is really named your-phone in your form.
Ask you to fill the form once with your own number to test.
AI can make mistakes. Always test with your own number first and look at the answer: green means it worked; red tells you what to fix. Stuck? Copy the red answer (hide your key first) and paste it into the same AI chat. It will fix the code with you.

Common questions
Which AI should I use?
Any of the three. ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini all work well with our prompt. Use the one you already know.
Does the AI send WhatsApp messages by itself?
No. The AI only writes the steps and the code. Messages go out when your form, sheet or website runs that code with your key.
Can I write in Hinglish?
Yes. Write your goal the way you speak, for example "Jab koi mera Google Form bhare, use WhatsApp par price list chali jaye." The prompt already asks the AI to explain in simple English or Hinglish.
Do I need a paid AI plan?
No. The free plans are usually enough for these setups.
